Here's a blast from the '96 past. I'm putting a few in one shot here, because it makes a bit more sense, where these all come from one particular space in time. This is my buddy Pete here, he of course being my friend since teen years. In '96, KISS did their famous Reunion Tour, and Pete and other friends Tim and Al, and myself, traveled to Montreal via Tim's car to stay at a hotel for a couple of nights and see the show. Tim and Al decided to go downtown in Montreal the night before, while Pete and myself were content to hang out in the hotel. This picture here is actually from after the show, though. This is of course Pete doing his pretty-boy pose. 🤣And of course, naturally, we had to get a shot of myself with my KISS tour book. This was a very good time in my life. Our daughter was born, I got to see my original heroes in concert, hit Montreal, I had the best job of my life that I'd just started working, and the world generally seemed great. Janice had to stay behind though and actually take my spot at my job until we got back. I wish she could have been there, but we did see them many times after this.
On our way to Montreal, or maybe it was coming back.... we stopped at this little snack shack joint in Quebec and got a bite. These little places in the middle of nowhere are often the best. Here's a shot of Tim cementing the moment.
Looks like Tim took the following shot, where the other three amigos are in the shot and he isn't. It must've been hot in the shade with all those sunglasses. I didn't know Al all that well, but he was always fun to be around. One thing worthy of note on the ride back is we all rocked out to Urge Overkill's 'Saturation' CD that I picked up in Montreal at the suggestion of our buddy Steve, who's sadly not with us anymore. And boy, did that album have us rockin' all the way back!
Pete and Al chowin' down on our 'refueling' stop. The four of us got on pretty great all the way there and back. These concert road trips are so memorable. I'm glad I got to see King's X again with Janice, Tim and his wife Marley in '19, I think it was.
And Tim's here to close out the entry, threatening suicide by ketchup bottle. Thankfully, he changed his mind, smiled and continued eating his burger. It would've been hard to explain that when we got back with his car.
