I'm going back into the Emmerson Street 80s for a bit here.
This is Mitzi, a terrier/chihuahua mix mutt that I believe my dad got for us in the early to mid 70s.
She was quite a character. Fiercely loyal to Dad and Mom, especially. She'd wait at the back door every day for Dad to come home from work from the CN shops. Dad would come in and she'd be there, ears folded back and tail wagging with sheer joy at the sight of him. And Dad gave her lots of lovin'.
After Dad passed in '78, Mitzi continued for a long time to wait for him at the back door, but he wouldn't be back. It was heartbreaking.
But she took all that love to Mom. You'll see a lot of pictures here of Mom and, more often than not, Mitzi is right there by her side.
My brother Pete calls Mitzi "The Humper", because there was no outstretched leg around that was safe around her! Getting spayed clearly didn't deter her carnal urges.
On the table in the background, you can see a picture of Dad with his eyes seemingly looking over Mitzi. I find this rather sweet and poetic. Mitzi's with her parents now in the afterworld.
You can see a wicker plant stand, very indicative of the 80s, as was that carpet. This is the TV den in the house, where Mom and Dad's room actually used to be. Dad slept there alone in his last few years, and it's where he fell asleep and died on February 28. It was where I saw him for the last time.
But, time marches on.
